Parents’ Association

Darver National School Parents’ Association has been in existence for many years and is open to all parents and guardians of pupils attending the school to join. It’s main objective is to work in partnership with the Principal and staff of Darver National school to enrich the educational experiences of pupils while also providing an active link between parents and the school.  The Parents’ Association contribute positively to the school through fund raising, providing consultation on the development of relevant school policies and promoting and supporting extra curricular activities. More information can be found at the National Parents’ Council website www.npc.ie

The Role Of Parents

At Darver NS, we recognise the crucial and valuable role that parents play in the education of their children. Parents are the primary educators of their children and have a vital role to play in the positive partnership between home and school. The school also relies heavily on the support and co-operation of parents in the education of their children. Effective communication between home and school is crucial for the ongoing development and educational success of children. We value our parents and in turn ask our parents to support us in the education of their children.

Parents’ Association

The purpose of the Parents Association (PA) is to provide a structure through which the parents/guardians of pupils of Darver National School can work together with school staff in providing the best possible educational experience for their children. The PA work in co-operation with the Board of Management, Principal, teachers and students in accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1998.

The aims and objectives of the Parents Association of Darver National School are as follows:

  • The Parents Association hopes to help all parents feel they have a part to play in the school and a contribution to make in helping their child’s years in the school be a positive time in their life.
  • To represent the interests and views of all parents of children attending the school.
  • To inform parents of developments in education, in Darver National School and the wider community.
  • To foster co-operation and promote good relationships between parents,  Principal, teachers and the Board of Management.
  • To help with the provision of extra equipment, teaching aids and enriching educational experiences through various fund-raising events.

At the beginning of each academic year there is an AGM of the Parents’ Association.  All parents are actively encouraged to join, including new parents to the school.  As a member of the association you can contribute to discussions at the AGM, assist at events, organise events, and work in partnership with school staff and the Board of Management in the development of the school as a whole. The work of the Parents’ Association is vital in providing the best possible educational experiences for children in Darver National School. We encourage all parents to consider becoming a member of the PA Committee at some stage during their child’s time in the school.
